HTML5 Boilerplate is a framework with HTML, JavaScript and CSS created to make building web projects easier. As project home page says it has inbuilt combined knowledge of 100s of great developers. And many HTML Boilerplate users do agree. Here at Enfew we have created the list of most popular and used tutorials to get you started with this nice framework. And once you finished you can take a look at similar list of tutorials we have created for Twitter Bootstrap framework. This should keep you occupied!

1. HTML5 Boilerplates by Remy Sharp at Html5doctor

Without going into the discussion of why HTML 5 is available today and not 2022, this article is going to give you a series of HTML 5 boilerplates that you can use in your projects right now.

2. HTML5 ★ Boilerplate

HTML5 Boilerplate is the professional badass’s base HTML/CSS/JS template for a fast, robust and future-proof site.

After more than three years in iterative development, you get the best of the best practices baked in: cross-browser normalization, performance optimizations, even optional features like cross-domain Ajax and Flash. A starter apache .htaccess config file hooks you the eff up with caching rules and preps your site to serve HTML5 video, use @font-face, and get your gzip zipple on.

Boilerplate is not a framework, nor does it prescribe any philosophy of development, it’s just got some tricks to get your project off the ground quickly and right-footed.

3. The real HTML5 boilerplate

A boilerplate is a starting point, it’s a base. It’s a codebase from which things are built with only the necessary and relevant additions being made (note additions, not changes).

I won’t beat about the bush, seeing the HTML5 Boilerplate makes me frustrated. It makes me wish I were a vet, or a tree surgeon, or something that isn’t a web developer. Look at all that code. 681* lines. Six hundred and eighty-one. Hell it even takes over 40 minutes to explain! That’s not a starting point, that’s a finished product and then some.

4. HOW TO: Get Started with HTML5 Boilerplate

his is not your father’s world wide web. Thanks to soaring smartphone sales, new tablet devices like the iPad, and the burgeoning trend of connected devices, individuals are accessing and experiencing the web in a very different way than they were even five years ago.

The desktop browsing experience is also undergoing radical change, thanks to the evolution of JavaScript frameworks and the push for standards successors such as CSS3 and HTML5. It’s an exciting time to be developing or designing for the web.

5. Automated Optimization with HTML5 Boilerplate Build

HTML5 Boilerplate is widely recognized as a rock-solid foundation for building new web-based sites and applications. That said, few are aware that the tool offers more than simply setting up your development environment. It also helps you “wrap up” your work by providing an awesome cross-platform build process.

XHTML 2 is dead, long live HTML 5! According to W3C News Archive, XHTML 2 working group is expected to stop work end of 2009 and W3C is planning to increase resources on HTML 5 instead. And even although HTML 5 won’t be completely supported until 2022, it doesn’t mean that it won’t be widely adopted within the foreseeable future.

2. HTML5 Canvas Cheat Sheet

The information is pretty much just a copy of what is found in the WHATWG specs, just condensed and hopefully a bit easier to read. There are virtually no explanations, however, and no examples other than some graphics for compositing values and a few other things (the appearance of which is very much inspired by those found in Mozilla’s examples). So, it’s basically just a listing of the attributes and methods of the canvas element and the 2d drawing context.

3. HTML5 Cheatsheet by storiesinflight

Here are some simple cut-and-paste examples of HTML5/CSS3 features that are currently (early 2011) usable across a number of web browsers, chief among them Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera and the upcoming IE9.

For many of the CSS3 examples, older versions of Internet Explorer are the lone holdout with a limited number of workarounds, however these features degrade gracefully and may still be useful on new projects as long as this limitation is kept in mind.

4. HTML5 in W3C Cheatsheet by w3.org

From the very first release of the cheatsheet, I’ve received requests to include the various new elements and attributes of the HTML5 specification in the cheatsheet. As a reminder, the cheatsheet is a mobile-friendly Web application that provides a compilation of useful knowledge extracted from W3C specifications

5. HTML 5 Visual Cheat Sheet by Woork

HTML 5 Visual Cheat Sheet is an useful cheat sheet for web designers and developers designed by me. This cheat sheet is essentially a simple visual grid with a list of all HTML tags and of their related attributes supported by HTML versions 4.01 and/or 5. The simple visual style I used to design this sheet allows you to find at a glance everything you are looking for.
Here’s a preview of my cheat sheet:

Like a lot of other web developers, I am also going to start learning HTML5. It’s time to get maximum benefit of HTML5 based browsers for our websites. Here I want to share a very useful cheatsheet on HTML5. It must be in your archive.

1. HTML5 Canvas Basic Tutorials Introduction

This section focuses on the fundamental drawing capabilities of the HTML5 Canvas, including line and curve drawing, path drawing, shape drawing, gradients, images, text, shadows, and composites.

2. Diving In To Canvas

HTML 5 defines the <canvas> element as “a resolution-dependent bitmap canvas which can be used for rendering graphs, game graphics, or other visual images on the fly.” A canvas is a rectangle in your page where you can use JavaScript to draw anything you want.

3. Canvas tutorial at MDN Doc Center

<canvas> is a new HTML element which can be used to draw graphics using scripting (usually JavaScript). It can for instance be used to draw graphs, make photo compositions or do simple (and not so simple) animations. The image on the right shows some examples of <canvas> implementations which we will see later in this tutorial.

<canvas> was first introduced by Apple for the Mac OS X Dashboard and later implemented in Safari and Google Chrome. Gecko 1.8-based browsers, such as Firefox 1.5, also support this element. The <canvas> element is part of the WhatWG Web applications 1.0 specification also known as HTML 5.

In this tutorial I will try to describe how to implement the <canvas> element in your own HTML pages. The examples provided should give you some clear ideas what you can do with <canvas> and can be used to start building your own implementations.

4. How to Draw with HTML 5 Canvas

Among the set of goodies in the HTML 5 specification is Canvas which is a way to programmatically draw using JavaScript. We’ll explore the ins and outs of Canvas in this article, demonstrating what is possible with examples and links.

5. HTML5 Canvas Tutorial

In this 7-minute video tutorial on HTML5 Canvas, you’ll learn how to create complex curves using the canvas.

6. Canvas examples

One of the most talked about features of the upcoming HTML5 code is the <canvas> element / tag, some of you may be aware that the <canvas> was first developed by Apple for use in their Mac OS X Dashboard and also implemented at a later date by the Safari browser, Most Gecko based browsers such as FireFox have current support for the <canvas> tag.

7. HTML5 canvas – the basics

The HTML5 specification includes lots of new features, one of which is the canvas element. HTML5 canvas gives you an easy and powerful way to draw graphics using JavaScript. For each canvas element you can use a “context” (think about a page in a drawing pad), into which you can issue JavaScript commands to draw anything you want. Browsers can implement multiple canvas contexts and the different APIs provide the drawing functionality.

8. HTML5 Canvas Tutorial & Example. Draw a Rainbow using Arc

“Canvas” which is an HTML5 tag, allows you to render graphics or visual images on the fly through programming in a browser. Very similar to generating graphics (drawing shapes) in Flash using the BitmapData class. To implement canvas in your webpage, you need to define a “canvas” tag in your mark up just like how you define any other container tag like “div”.

9. HTML 5 Canvas Tutorial – How to Use the HTML 5 Tag CANVAS

The <canvas> tag in HTML 5 is a really useful tool that allows web designers to draw graphics using a script like JavaScript to build the image.

2. HTML5 <!DOCTYPE> Declaration at W3School

The <!DOCTYPE> declaration must be the very first thing in your HTML5 document, before the <html> tag. This tag tells the browser which HTML specification the document uses. The doctype declaration is not an HTML tag; it is an instruction to the web browser about what version of the markup language the page is written in. It is important that you specify the doctype in all HTML documents, so that the browser knows what type of document to expect.

3. Dive Into Html5 – The Doctype

Microsoft came up with a novel solution. Before rendering a page, IE5/Mac looked at the “doctype,” which is typically the first line of the HTML source (even before the <html> element). Older pages (that relied on the rendering quirks of older browsers) generally didn’t have a doctype at all. IE5/Mac rendered these pages like older browsers did. In order to “activate” the new standards support, web page authors had to opt in, by supplying the right doctype before the <html> element.

4. Finally, a doctype anyone can remember – Building Web Pages With HTML 5 at WebMonkey

The first thing we need to do to create an HTML 5 document is use the new doctype. Now, if you’ve actually memorized the HTML 4 or XHTML 1.x doctypes, you’re better monkeys than us. Whenever we start a new page we have to bring up an old one and cut and paste the doctype definition over.

The World-Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has unveiled a new logo for HTML5 — and along with it, a new way of framing the conversation about newer web development technologies.

W3C presents the HTML5 logo with this catchy phrase official Page

It stands strong and true, resilient and universal as the markup you write. It shines as bright and as bold as the forward-thinking, dedicated web developers you are. It’s the standard’s standard, a pennant for progress. And it certainly doesn’t use tables for layout.

We present an HTML5 logo.

The Logo is designed by a design firm called ‘Ocupop’, Designer Michael Nieling said, “The term HTML5 has taken on a life of its own; there has been significant confusion and debate both within the developer community and in the public at large as to what exactly HTML5 is when the term is used outside of simply referring to the spec itself… The standard needs a standard. That is, HTML5 needs a consistent, standardized visual vocabulary to serve as a framework for conversations, presentations, and explanations.”

I just love the logo, its so clean and cutting edge. What about you guys? Let me know in comments below.

Along with an army of JavaScript APIs, HTML 5 comes with a Drag and Drop (DnD) API that brings native DnD support to the browser making it much easier to code up. HTML 5 DnD is based on Microsoft’s original implementation which was available as early as Internet Explorer 5! Now currently supported in IE, Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4. We’re going to look how to implement DnD and review some of the issues (or hoops we have to jump through) with the current implementations now.

2. Cross Browser HTML5 Drag and Drop at User Agent Man

[ Demo ] HTML5 Drag and Drop has been talked about a lot lately, but it’s hard to find really useful information about implementing it across multiple browsers. Mozilla, Apple and Microsoft all have pages describing how to use it, but their examples seem to work only in their particular browser (Apple’s example doesn’t even work in their own! Updated, Jan. 11, 2009: Although I have not been able to get this example working on Safari 2.0.4 and 3.1.2 for OS X and 4.0.4 for Windows, I have received word that it works on Safari 4.0.4 on OS X).

Remy Sharp’s great article Native Drag and Drop was a good place for me to start — however, the examples didn’t work in Internet Explorer. I also thoroughly enjoyed JavaScript guru Peter-Paul Koch’s humorous and lengthy rant about cross-browser drag and drop headaches where he uses creative and colourful language to describe what he thought of the standard, the browser manufacturers, and the WHAT-WG.

3. HTML5 drag and drop in Firefox 3.5 By 0xDECAFBAD [Leslie]

Drag and drop is one of the most fundamental interactions afforded by graphical user interfaces. In one gesture, it allows users to pair the selection of an object with the execution of an action, often including a second object in the operation. It’s a simple yet powerful UI concept used to support copying, list reordering, deletion (ala the Trash / Recycle Bin), and even the creation of link relationships.

Since it’s so fundamental, offering drag and drop in web applications has been a no-brainer ever since browsers first offered mouse events in DHTML. But, although mousedown, mousemove, and mouseup made it possible, the implementation has been limited to the bounds of the browser window. Additionally, since these events refer only to the object being dragged, there’s a challenge to find the subject of the drop when the interaction is completed.

we are still just scraping the surface of the new markup, so today we are going to have a look at how to create a HTML 5 page that uses the new drag and drop feature. Note we are displaying this via an iframe so if your having any trouble viewing the demo please let us know, another reason it may not show will be due to your browser, this is working in the latest Firefox browser only at the moment..

Over the last day I’ve been trying to learn how to use the new HTML5 Drag and Drop API as well as the new File API. I want to create a really nice drag-and-drop experience for users trying to upload files to a webapp; much like Google just did with Drag and Drop attachments in Gmail.

They always say that the best way to learn something is to try and teach someone else, so here is my attempt at distilling this relatively new and unsupported technology down into nice diagrams, gotchas and code so you can enjoy it too.

Our first attempt ran really great on the Apple-supplied SDK iPad Simulator. But when we got our real iPads, everything seemed slow and sluggish. We went in an optimized the perceived “snappyness” when dragging the the time bar with your finger, and about doubled the rate of frames per second rendered.

About Thomas Fuchs: I’m Thomas. I’m the author of script.aculo.us, the JavaScript user interface library. I’m also a core member of the Prototype JavaScript framework and a Ruby on Rails core alumnus. I write about all things web at mir.aculo.us.

2. Intuity’s notabene – Rapid HTML5 Prototyping on the iPad

Our goal was to explore the possibilities of the new device, especially its browser as Objective-C is really a painful environment (at least for me) when it comes to fast prototyping. So we wanted to know: Can we use HTML as prototyping platform for future projects? How far can we push the boundaries of the browser? Can we make a webapp behave just like a native app?

3. Creating a HTML 5 Web App for iPad By Anders Zakrisson

The iPad is (at least for now) the perfect device for consuming media (on the go) and for casual browsing and news consumption. In my point of view there’s no reason for most apps to live in the App Store, the majority would work equally well (if not better) as websites or web apps with the benefit that they would be accessible on all platforms, be free from Apple censorship and are easier to develop (just count the number of HTML vs. Objective C developers). There are a few instances were the speed and processing ability is needed (such as games and media players) but most apps are basically information presenters and the web is more than adequate of handling that.

However, there are some optimizations that can be done to most websites for optimal display and a few other issues that needs to be adressed to allow websites to feel as native apps on the iPad (and other mobile touch devices).

About Anders Zakrisson: I’m Anders Zakrisson, an engineer educated at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden and currently employed by Sogeti Sweden as an Open Source Ambassador and web developement consultant focsing on web standards, search engine optimization and useability.

In today’s video quick tip, we’re going to build a working, though very basic, to-do list in just a minute or two. Thanks to HTML5′s local storage, we can make advanced browsers “remember” what we type, even after the browser is closed or is refreshed.

While obviously not supported across all browsers, we can expect this method to work, most notably, in Internet Explorer 8, Safari 4, and Firefox 3.5. Note that, to compensate for older browsers that won’t recognize local storage, you should first test to determine whether window.localStorage exists.

2. webOS HTML5 Database Storage Tutorial

If you haven’t been able to find any tutorials on HTML5’s storage capability, you’re not alone. After looking around, we realized that the HTML5 spec is still at such an early revision that there are few resources out there that describe how it should be used. But with a little digging, we found this excellent little HTML5 database application over at webkit.org. We eagerly grabbed the source code, deconstructed it, and we’re proud to bring you the first webOS / HTML5 database storage tutorial!

3. HTML5 Web Storage Tutorial at beakkon

One of the most useful features of HTML5 is WEB STORAGE. You might be wondering why is it so useful. So, have a look at the following advantages –

It stores data on client-side.

It not only reduces load on server, but also works much faster than traditional method of retrieving data from server.

It provides much greater storage capacity of around 5MB.

HTML5 offers two methods for storing data on client-side-

LOCAL STORAGE – In this method, data stored is available to all scripts within domain and persists even after browser is closed.

SESSION STORAGE- In this method, data stored is available only to the script that stored the data and data is lost on closing of browser.

4. HTML 5 Local Storage

When we produced the Google Tasks extension we soon found out users wanted two things:

The ability to resize the window

Google Apps integration

We chose to use local storage to persist these settings because it was more straight forward and reliable than other methods, plus we wanted to take advantage of Chrome’s modern HTML 5 features. Local storage lets you store data in key value pairs on your user’s machine. The data you store is unique to your domain, so creating a unique name for your key isn’t a huge worry.

5. Working with HTML5 localStorage() at html5tutorial

HTML5 is fast approaching and getting wide spread usage. Most are familiar with the new tags like header, section and footer and everybody is aware of the new video tags thanks to Apple vs Adobe. However, there is a lot more to HTML5 those just those two aspects.

6. HTML5 Web Storage Example at OnePixelAhead

Web storage is just one of the new and exciting features of HTML5, which gives websites the ability to store information on the client’s machine without a time limit. The purpose of this post is to provide an example implementation of web storage, present a working demo, and outline the basic code for handling web storage.

HTML5 is one of the most fashionable topics in today’s web programming world. HTML5 contains lots of new features that allege to change the web face, big players like Google and Apple are pushing for it and browsers competes to implement more and more html5 features. In this conditions there is no surprise that everyone is talking about it.

8. Taking a Dive into HTML5 – Web Storage At Switchonthecode

HTML5 is getting a lot of attention these days – especially when it comes to video. This tutorial is going to cover a feature added to HTML5 that I don’t think is getting enough attention – web storage.

Prior to web storage, most websites used cookies to store information on the client’s computer. Cookies, for the most part, work great for simple storage. They do, however, have one major drawback. If the user is visiting your site on two separate windows or tabs, information stored in cookies will be shared between them. To handle this case, the web storage in HTML5 has been split into two pieces: localStorage and sessionStorage. The first one works like cookies, saving information for an entire site (origin). The second one, sessionStorage, will store information for each origin but keep it isolated between windows or tabs.

1. How to Make an HTML5 iPhone App [Tutorial]

You’ve been depressed for like a year now, I know. All the hardcore Objective-C developers have been having a hay-day writing apps for the iPhone. You might have even tried reading a tutorial or two about developing for the iPhone, but its C—or a form of it—and it’s really hard to learn.

I don’t want to say that you should give up on the objective: you can get it eventually. But in the meantime, there is something else that you can do. You can create a native app that lives with all the other apps, and for the most part, it’s going to be a pitch-perfect imitation. You can do this with the skill set you probably already have: HTML(5), CSS, and JavaScript. I’ll show you how to create an offline HTML5 iPhone application. More specifically, I’ll walk you through the process of building a Tetris game.

2. HTML5 Apps: Positioning with Geolocation [Tutorial]

At the heart of every location-based application is positioning and geolocation. In this tutorial you will learn the geolocation capabilities of HTML5 and the basic principles needed to take advantage of them in your next HTML5 app!

Three years ago, the smartphone “boom” was still an uncertain possibility. Today, we are surrounded by a society of smart phone addicts who live as if their lives cannot continue without instant, mobile access to the web, e-mail, and apps for every occasion. Mobile devices have come a long way in just three short years, and now support a wide range of useful features beyond making phone calls. For location-challenged individuals like myself, geolocation is one of the most useful additions. Many iPhone and Android devices have been fitted with GPS hardware that can produce reliable geographical data, and in this article we will discuss the geolocation capabilities of HTML5.

3. Beginning iPhone and iPad Web Apps: Scripting with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript [Book]

This book will help you join the thousands of successful iPhone App developers without needing to learn Objective-C or the Cocoa touch APIs. If you want to apply your existing web development skills to iPhone and iPad development, then now you can. WebKit’s support for HTML5 means any web developer can create compelling apps for both the iPhone and the larger-screen iPad.

Beginning iPhone & iPad Web Apps takes you through the latest Mobile Web Standards as well as the specific features of the iPhone and iPad. You’ll learn about WebKit and Mobile Safari, HTML5 and CSS3, Vector Graphics and Multimedia support. You’ll discover the built-in hardware features of the iPhone and iPad and how best to take advantage of them.

The market for web apps for the iPhone and iPad is expanding rapidly. You’ll want to know about all the advantages, and Beginning iPhone & iPad Web Apps is the perfect starting point.

It’s a fact: if you know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you already have the tools you need to develop your own iPhone apps. With this book, you’ll learn how to use these open source web technologies to design and build apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch on the platform of your choice-without using Objective-C or Cocoa.

Device-agnostic mobile apps are the wave of the future, and this book shows you how to create one product for several platforms. You’ll find guidelines for converting your product into a native iPhone app using the free PhoneGap framework. And you’ll learn why releasing your product as a web app first helps you find, fix, and test bugs much faster than if you went straight to the App Store with a product built with Apple’s tools.

Build iPhone apps with tools you already know how to use

Learn how to make an existing website look and behave like an iPhone app

Add native-looking animations to your web app using jQTouch

Take advantage of client-side data storage with apps that run even when the iPhone is offline

Hook into advanced iPhone features — including the accelerometer, geolocation, and vibration — with JavaScript

Submit your applications to the App Store with Xcode

This book received valuable community input through O’Reilly’s Open Feedback Publishing System (OFPS).

HTML5 Boilerplate is the professional badass’s base HTML/CSS/JS template for a fast, robust and future-proof site.

After more than two years in iterative development, you get the best of the best practices baked in: cross-browser normalization, performance optimizations, even optional features like cross-domain Ajax and Flash.

In this tutorial, we are going to build a blog page using next-generation techniques from HTML 5 and CSS 3. The tutorial aims to demonstrate how we will be building websites when the specifications are finalized and the browser vendors have implemented them. If you already know HTML and CSS, it should be easy to follow along.

5. Coding A HTML 5 Layout From Scratch

View Demo

HTML5 and CSS3 have just arrived (kinda), and with them a whole new battle for the ‘best markup’ trophy has begun. Truth to be told, all these technologies are mere tools waiting for a skilled developer to work on the right project. As developers we shouldn’t get into pointless discussions of which markup is the best. They all lead to nowhere. Rather, we must get a brand new ideology and modify our coding habits to keep the web accessible.

While it is true HTML5 and CSS3 are both a work in progress and is going to stay that way for some time, there’s no reason not to start using it right now. After all, time’s proven that implementation of unfinished specifications does work and can be easily mistaken by a complete W3C recommendation. That’s were Progressive Enhancement and Graceful Degradation come into play.

6. Code a Backwards Compatible, One Page Portfolio with HTML5 and CSS3

You may be wondering where the Photoshop or Fireworks file is. Well, there isn’t one. This is a result of designing in the browser and shows what can be achieved when skipping the Photoshop design phase, saving a lot of time in the process.

7. Cool iPhone App Website in HTML5

8. HTML5 and CSS3 Layout

View Demo | Download Files (.zip)

Since HTML5 and CSS3 aren’t going to be supported in all the browsers, especially not older ones like IE6, we can try and make it work in everything, but it won’t look the same in all of the browsers. For instance, rounded corners wont work in IE or Opera, but it wont affect the usability of that web page. Likewise, the flexible box model only works in Firefox and Webkit.

What we can do is we can set up a failsafe so that the web page will work in every browser correctly, but not in the same way. For instance, I made it so that in Webkit browsers, the page uses the flexible box model. However everywhere else it just switches to the old fashioned way and floats the elements to either side to create columns.

9. HTML5 Starter Pack – a sick freebie

View Demo | Download Files (.zip)

The Starter Pack, as I call it, is a bit different than a template. I built it with one guiding principle: scalability. As a result, you can use this to get started on your portfolio page or the next Facebook.

Of course, the coding part is all HTML5, cross-browser, of course, but I’ve also gone and included a basic Photoshop template to get you started on designing the page. Just to lure you in to it, here’s a list of a few major features of the pack

10. Newsy Multiple Column HTML5 and CSS3 Template

View Demo | Download Files (.zip)

Newsy is a beautiful newspaper / magazine style template with the advanced multiple-column feature that CSS3 now offers. Content flows easily from one column to the next – automatically – without any effort on the part of the author. With it’s paper-textured background, and use of small bits of bright color, this template stands out as both elegant and bold at the same time.

IE won’t recognize the multiple columns, so the articles will look like normal one-column posts, but at least it doesn’t seem broken to IE users.

HTML5 video is taking the web by storm. Not only has a very public (and contentious) debate unfolded on the web about the efficacy of presenting videos using HTML5 instead of Flash, but momentum is gathering behind the nascent web standard.

From giant video sites like YouTube to Wikipedia, everyone it seems wants to get their video out of Flash and into native web formats. With Microsoft recently announcing it will support the HTML5 video tag in the coming Internet Explorer 9, expect even more sites to abandon Flash for native video.

So, you want in on the fun? Do you want to use some HTML5 video tags on your site right now? No problem. Fasten your seat belts, as we’re about to take a tour of the wonderful world of HTML5 video.

2. Embed HTML5 Videos with Multi-Browser Support on Your Site

If you’ve got a blog, personal site, or another web platform and find yourself wondering how you can get in on the no-plugin-needed streaming video in HTML5, Webmonkey has a handy guide to understanding and embedding HTML5 videos on your site.

Getting your videos ready for HTML5-friendly formats is a whole other topic, one covered by Mark Pilgrim’s video encoding section of Dive Into HTML5, as recommended by Webmonkey. Once your videos are ready to roll, you can put them up on your site with some example code, as well as cater to those with non-HTML5 browsers, like Internet Explorer. And Webmonkey explains another default strategy.

3. YouTube Adds HTML 5 Embedding of Videos

Here is some good news for YouTube fanboys, now you can embed YouTube videos using the new HTML5 embed code. The YouTube api blog recently announced that the team is experimenting with a new embed code that uses the iframe tag to switch between the flash and HTML5 interface.

YouTube added support for HTML5 earlier this year, followed by another popular video sharing site – Vimeo. The HTML5 video playback was limited to only a few browsers e.g Google Chrome, Safari and users were not given any embed code for the uploaded videos.

4. Why the HTML5 ‘Video’ Element Is Effectively Unusable, Even in Browsers Which Support It

In the original version of this article, I incorrectly reported that Firefox auto-buffers HTML5 video content by default, as Safari and Chrome do.

5. How To Embed YouTube Videos In HTML5 And Flash Mode

The YouTube video website contains millions of videos and most of them are being embedded to other websites with the Flash video technology. This is a great feature of Youtube videos and considering that all the web browsers contain the Adobe Flash Player plug-in installed and so you are able of watching the embedded Youtube videos without any problems.

For the past year, I’ve watched the HTML5 <video> element debate (mostly over video formats/containers) with a great interest—I abhor having to use Adobe Flash on my sites to embed video, especially since that means many videos don’t work on my Linux workstation (which doesn’t have Flash), or on my iPhone/iPad.

The HTML5 <video> element (and similarly, the less-supported <audio> element) promises to take away the stress of having to have flash players, FLV-encoded video, etc. just to show a viewer a non-static piece of content.

7. Embedding YouTube HTML5-video with newTube

After looking into ways to call the YouTube mp4-file from within a Video for Everybody html-block (which is not possible, Google protects raw video-files using what seems to be a session-based hash that has to be provided in the URL), I decided to take another (dirty) approach; faking it!

This is a run through of the basics of HTML5 and CSS3 while still paying attention to older browsers.

HTML5 is definitely the flavor of the month, with everyone in the design community getting excited about its release. In this tutorial we’ll get a taste of what’s to come by building a cool iPhone app website using a HTML5 structure, and visual styling with some CSS3 effects.

5. Designing a blog with html5

Much of HTML 5′s feature set involves JavaScript APIs that make it easier to develop interactive web pages but there are a slew of new elements that allow you extra semantics in your conventional Web 1.0 pages. In order to investigate these, let’s look at marking up a blog.

6. Touch The Future: Create An Elegant Website With HTML 5 And CSS3

I’m sure that who chooses to work as web designer makes a choice of heart, a choice of love. He/she decides to bet any given day on his creativity and his ability of producing an idea and of making it tangible, visible and perceptible for all. These crazy men have my respect. But, also when the creative side is very important for a work, there exists a logical (and technical) part in all creative process.

7. HTML5 for Beginners. Use it now, its easy!

so there are a lot of articles out there on HTML5, especially since Google Wave arrived (because it’s the first major app to run on the language), but all the information that you need to know in order to start using it now is either too complicated, or spread out over various websites / articles / tutorials. Hopefully in this article we’ll be able to amalgamate and condense a lot of this information so that anyone with basic HTML knowledge can start using it.

8. webOS HTML5 Database Storage Tutorial

With the release of Chapter 1 of Palm webOS by O’Reilly, Palm has confirmed that local storage will indeed be handled by HTML5’s new local storage functionality.

9. Yes, You Can Use HTML 5 Today!

There have been many changes to the HTML 5 landscape since my colleague, Lachlan Hunt’s 2007 article on A List Apart, A Preview of HTML 5. Let’s see what’s happening in the world of HTML 5.

10. Coding a CSS3 & HTML5 One-Page Website Template

Web development is an area in which you have to keep up with the latest technologies and techniques, so that you are at the top of your game. And no wonder – this is an area which changes with an amazing pace. What is the standard now will be obsolete in just a couple of years.

But changes do not come from nowhere. The early adopters are already using what we are going to use day-to-day a few years from now. One of these technologies is HTML5 – the new version of the fundamental language of the web.
