These days computer hardware accessories abound the markets. Choices are galore, prices are competitive, products are stylised but don’t let all this overwhelm you. Know exactly what you may need to make the right choice.

What makes for best computer accessories? It is those that complement your computer usage and add value. To help you choose the right computer hardware accessories, you must:

Know the basics before you venture out to shop.

Check for online computer accessories, read up on them, see what you need and then decide what to buy.

To Understand the compatibility is a big issue. Old accessories may not function with the newer systems, be aware of this before you buy.

Look for online stores that offer good prices. Even if they offer cheap computer parts ensure that you get a guarantee from the manufacturer.

Some accessories may not be a major component of your computer but will help you to use it effectively.

1. Connecting cables are often ignored. They are either not long enough or too long. Here’s where getting the specific length helps. Also, cable tie-wraps or other harnesses help maintain an uncluttered work space.

2. Bluetooth and wireless accessories like wireless microphone, headset, keyboard and mouse make work easy. Small businesses and homes can choose wireless routers and hubs to avoid expensive wiring.

3. Computers that are meant for business use will need switches, peripherals, routers, modems, network devices, printers, scanners, UPS and power supplies.

4. There are accessories for people with physical disabilities, like a brail display for the blind, etc. If you are left handed don’t be left out, there are keyboards just for you!

5. Who can forget the gaming geeks? They can purchase exclusive keyboards, pointing devices and score cards.

6. Comfort shouldn’t take a backseat. To carry your laptop, notebooks safely there are special bags and suitcases that can be used even while traveling. Headphones and privacy screens are also available.

7. For those who do intensive work around designing, animation, etc. will need high-end graphic, video cards.

8. Gone are the days when you had to remember every password. Now, we have fingerprint readers, which help you prove your identity without a username and password.

9. Similar to a mouse, trackballs allow you to control the cursor on your computer screen. They use limited space and are a good alternative to a mouse.

Get professional quality results from virtually any photographic original with the Epson Perfection™ V700 Photo scanner. With groundbreaking 6400 dpi resolution, this powerful scanner consistently delivers precision color and detail, whether scanning slides, negatives or medium format film, and with a 4.0 Dmax, it offers exceptional image quality, excellent detail in shadow areas and remarkable tonal range.

The Epson Perfection V700 Photo represents a breakthrough in flatbed scanning by offering the highest optical scan resolution (6400 dpi) available for photo studio applications. This powerful performer gives you the industry’s leading scanner technologies, all right at your fingertips.

Reviews:

1. Epson Perfection V700 Photo Scanner by Cnet

The Epson Perfection V700 Photo makes an excellent choice for a deep-pocketed photo hobbyist or a pro who needs to scan originals in a mixture of sizes. “I’m sitting on 1,000 slides. What’s the best way to get them into the computer?” is a frequently asked question I get from both friends and readers. Of course, the easiest solution is to send them off to someone else. But that can get expensive, and many people don’t want to subject their prized photos to the disinterested hands of a technician. That leaves you with a scanner as your only option. For speedy, unattended scanning, a dedicated slide scanner with an automatic feeder, such as the Nikon Coolscan V, is a good bet. After you’re done with the slides, though, it becomes an expensive paperweight. So after the costs and benefits play out, your best overall choice turns out to be a really good flatbed scanner–like the Epson Perfection V700.

2. Epson Perfection V700 Photo by PcMag

At $549 list, the Epson Perfection V700 Photo is not for everyone. But if you take your photography seriously, are demanding about scan quality—and particularly if you have a large print and film collection waiting to enter the digital age, this scanner well worth your attention. Its claimed resolution of 6,400 pixels per inch is significantly higher than the 2,400- or 3,600-ppi maximum of many dedicated film scanners, but scan quality is the important measure, and that’s among the best we’ve seen.

3. The Epson V700 Photo Scanner Review by photo-i.co.uk

It seems like this is becoming an annual event, a year ago I reviewed the Epson 4990 scanner, the year before it was the 4870. Both scanners produced high quality scans that were close, if not better than most dedicated film scanners. Most photographers are now shooting digitally, so film scanning is not a high priority. Having said that, there are many photographers who still want to convert their slide and film collections into digital files. High end film scanners are now rare items so flatbed scanners would seem to be the most logical and affordable choice. Lets take a close look at the Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanner.

Intel Corporation announced today the next in a line of new solid-state drives (SSD), the Intel® Solid-State Drive 510 Series. The new Intel SSD 510 features fast SATA 6 Gigabits per second (Gbps) performance to take full advantage of Intel’s transition to higher speed SATA bus interfaces on the recently introduced 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processor-based platforms. Supporting data transfers of up to 500 megabytes per second (MB/s), the Intel SSD 510 doubles the sequential read speeds, and at up to 315MB/s more than triples the sequential write speeds of Intel’s current 3Gbps SSDs, to transfer more data in less time. This makes it ideal for demanding gamers, media creators, performance-intensive workstation users and any technology enthusiast.

1. The Intel SSD 510 Review by AnandTech

The X25-M was a tremendous first attempt by Intel to get into the SSD market. In our review of the SSD I wrote that Intel just Conroe’d the SSD market, and if it weren’t for the pesky 80MB/s sequential write speed limitation the X25-M would’ve been given the title: World’s Fastest Drive. Its successor, the X25-M G2, was a mild update that brought prices down through the use of 34nm NAND. Remember that Intel is also 49% owner of the IMFT joint venture and as a result can be quite competitive on NAND pricing (and quite early to adopt new NAND technologies).

2. Intel SSD 510 Review (250GB) by StorageReview

Intel’s success with the X25-M has been quite remarkable. Not only has the drive sold more than any other SSD on the market, it’s had a solid track record for reliability and compatibility as well. It’s with great anticipation that we’ve been waiting for Intel’s next generation SSD – now it’s here, the Intel SSD 510. Intel continues to build on their new naming scheme, the SSD 310 is their little mSATA SSD and now the SSD 510, a mainstream SSD leveraging a SATA 6Gb/s interface and 34nm NAND to yield speeds of up to 500MB/s sequential reads and 315MB/s writes for the 250GB capacity. Intel also offers a 120GB capacity that posts speeds of 450MB/s and 210MB/s.

3. Intel 510 SSD Review by Guru3d

The 120GB version will cost about $280 while the 250GB version will cost about $580. When the device arrived in our test-lab a few days ago we ran a quick first test with ATTO benchmark software, we topped the advertised performance in MB/s in both reads and writes, pure unadulterated performance from a single SSD. Now, over the past year most of you guys on the AMD platform already got the royal SATA 6G treatment as all new 800 series AMD chipsets support that new faster interface. With the release and demise of Sandy Bridge from Intel also came an integrated SATA 6G controller in their series H67/P67 chipsets, and that last one is darn good — well at least the 6G connectors.

Description

The Razer BlackWidow’s mechanical key technology provides a distinctive tactile feedback in the form of a light pronounced tap to your fingers giving you an entirely new feel on your keyboard. With its optimized actuation force of 50g and a reduced actuation distance of 2mm the Razer BlackWidow’s keys allows you to actuate your commands faster than on any other standard gaming keyboard. Record unlimited macros on-the-fly without having to take your eye off the game and immediately change between up to 10 profiles without the hassle of going into complex driver menus. With the simple click of two buttons you initiate and end the recording and you’re all set.

Reviews

1. Razer Intros First Mechanical Keyboards: BlackWidow, BlackWidow Ultimate by Technologyihub.com

A storehouse of gaming peripherals, Razer has announced that it will soon release its two more mechanical keyboards – BlackWidow and BlackWidow Ultimate – for avid gamers who are always on the lookout for comfort and tactile feedback. This might sound a bit awkward that the gaming keyboards found in the market today are actually just standard mechanical keyboards, that cause key actuation fatigue due to the presence of stiff keys. On the other hand, Razer BlackWidow is a mechanical keyboard that’s totally dedicated to and designed for avid gamers who need every key of their keyboard to respond swiftly.

2. Razer BlackWidow Ultimate by Cnet

To a certain extent Razer has made its own life difficult with the BlackWidow Ultimate. This $125 mechanical keyboard offers an impressively responsive typing experience, but we don’t find its backlighting or spare USB jack and audio ports enough to justify the cost next to the otherwise identical standard BlackWidow that costs just $80. Without the $80 model, we would have few reservations recommending the BlackWidow Ultimate to gamers in the market for a luxury keyboard. As it stands, we can only suggest the Ultimate version if you find backlighting and a few extra inputs to be worth an additional $40. Though the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate joins the standard BlackWidow and only two mechanical keyboards from SteelSeries in the gaming market, there’s been an overall boom in mechanical keyboards in the past few years

3. Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Review by Geekhack.org

When the PC was first introduced in 1981, there were two kinds of keyboards – the mechanical ones that you could type on, and the “other” ones that you hated so much they might as well have murdered your mother. Ask anyone who’s ever typed on a membrane or foam-n-foil board and they’ll tell you. It wasn’t until the late ’80s or early ’90s, when there was a big rush among manufacturers to make PC-compatible computers as cheap as possible, that rubber dome keyboards were introduced. Finally! Manufacturers had viable alternative to mechanical switches – something that was cheap to make, yet also “good enough” to keep their reputation intact. Over the next few years, millions of people bought the first computer and first keyboard that they had ever used, and those keyboards would be all that they knew for the next two decades. During this time only a small group of people would even remember that mechanical keyboards existed. Only a small handful of mech keyboards would still be manufactured, and they would be hidden so well you’d never have known about them if you hadn’t gone looking for them. But over the past few years they’ve gained lots of attention. They are no longer seen as “old, ugly, and loud”, and a few retailers have begun to stock them again. But most importantly, for the first time in ages, they’ve caught the eye of a major peripheral manufacturer – one with enough resources and marketing prowess to bring mechanical boards mainstream again.

Super Speed. Super Tough. The eGo BlackBelt Portable Hard Drive offers a stylish look that is fast, sleek, and rugged. Now with a fast USB 3.0 interface, you can save your media in a fraction of the time ? up to 10 times faster than with USB 2.0. All Iomega USB 3.0 drives are backward compatible to USB 2.0 using the same USB cable. So enjoy fast speeds now if you have a USB 3.0 computer or use USB 2.0 and be confident you can upgrade later!

You?ll need a PC with a USB 3.0 port for the best performance. 256-bit hardware encryption built-in for data security (PC only) and Iomega Protection Suite software is included at no additional cost (via download) with antivirus and backup software. Plus, the Iomega Drop GuardTM Xtreme helps protect the drive from drops up to 7 feet! Available 1TB capacity, the eGo is protected by a 3-year limited warranty when you register your product

Review

1. Iomega eGo BlackBelt Mac Edition (1TB) by Cnet

We recommended last year’s version of the Iomega eGo Portable Mac Edition because of its impressive throughput speeds and a rugged design. Now the latest eGo BlackBelt version ups the device’s capacity to 1TB for just $220 and adds an additional drop-protection measure that wraps the drive in a tough rubber enclosure. Now with physical protection from 7-foot drops and a useful backup software suite included, the Iomega eGo Portable Mac Edition is faster and cheaper than ever. If we haven’t made ourselves clear enough, we firmly recommend this updated drive series.

2. Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive (USB 3.0, 1TB) by Computer Shopper

Minor software frustrations aside, the eGo remains a speedy, solid contender for your portable-drive dollars, especially if your PC has USB 3.0 (or you’re considering upgrading).

3. Iomega eGo BlackBelt Hard Drive by Macnn

While Mac users can take advantage of a wide variety of external hard drives, Iomega continues to offer its eGo series with a special version already formatted in HFS+ for use with Mac OS X. The company’s eGo BlackBelt is the latest drive carrying the Mac Edition designation, with improvements to durability and capacity

Featuress LGA1156 socket for Intel Core i5/Core i3 Clarkdale new generation desktop processors in a Mini-ITX 170×170 mm form factor
H55H-I is the ECS Mini-ITX form factor motherboard, featuring onboard HDMI/DVI connectors for High Definition display and S/PDIF optical and coaxial ports for high quality digital sound output. Perfect for setting up your personal Home Theater PC (HTPC) to enjoy Blu-ray playback in Full HD 1080P multimedia home entertainment.

Review

1. ECS H55H-I Review: Mini-ITX at a Sensible Price by AnandTech

So far we’ve looked at three different mini-ITX motherboards here at Anandtech over the past 6 months. While each of the products we’ve reviewed have ticked a certain number of boxes, when you look at the feature sets of similarly priced m-ATX boards one of the irksome common denominators (among other things) with the mini-ITX offerings is that you essentially pay more for less. Well, ECS may just have delivered the perfect cost to feature ratio with the H55H-I, a $79 mini-ITX motherboard based on the Intel H55 chipset:

2. ECS H55H-I Mini ITX Motherboard Review by Guru3d

The product comes from ECS and is tagged as H55H-I, despite what you might think or feel about Mini-ATX, this little motherboard has it, it’s packed and loaded with features. Pop on a Clarkdale based processor like the Core i3 or Core i5 series and you can use it’s HDMI, DVI of DSUB graphics connector. Audio ? No worries the embedded Realtek ACL 8982 eight channel audio codec will happily output to analog or coaxial or optical TOSLINK S/PDIF connectors, need USB ? Well, the rear panel has six of them, need SATA2 ? Here we spot four ports and one eSATA, dual channel memory ? Yep supported, up-to 1600 MHz and in the end if you do not want to use the embedded graphics from the processor, then you can even pop in a full x16 PCIe graphics card and make a wicked gaming rig out of this incredibly handy H55H-I motherboard.

3. ECS H55H-I Motherboard Review by Motherboards.org

Mini-ITX motherboards are becoming more and more popular as the motherboard chipsets that are available are getting better with each generation. Intel has been releasing new CPUs and motherboards and their latest mainstream motherboard chipset the H55 chipset would seem to be the perfect match for an ITX platform as it has decent integrated graphics performance, available CPUs with fairly power consumption and great performance.

GF100, your services are no longer required. Nvidia’s GF114 GPU displaces the last card based on the company’s 3 billion-transistor chip using fewer than two billion transistors. It’s amazing what a little optimization can do. Welcome, GeForce GTX 560 Ti.

We’ve got a couple of GeForce GTX 560 Ti cards in the lab, a reference model from NVIDIA and a factory overclocked speedster from MSI. Strap yourself in and come along for the ride as we check out what will undoubtedly be a popular card with budget conscious PC gamers.

As unfathomable as it seems now, at one point in history the product refresh cycle for GPUs was around 6 months. Twice a year NVIDIA and AMD would come out with major refreshes to their product lines, particularly at the high-end where a quick succession of parts brought great performance gains and left us little time to breathe.

Fermi has grown up pretty quickly. First, the hot headed GF101/102 came and as the GTX 480/470, many jokes about frying eggs evolved. Then, the GF104 gave us the GTX 460; a card that really hit the gaming sweet spot in terms of price and performance. Then brought the scaled up GF110 which firmly secured the GTX 580 as the most powerful single GPU video card solution today. But nVidia wasn’t done!
