Description
Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the release of the COOLPIX S8100, a stylish 10X zoom model with improved image quality in photos taken in dark surroundings and excellent performance with nighttime and dimly lit indoor shooting that often results in blurred photos.
According to the latest Nikon survey of compact digital camera users, the most common complaint is the inability to take the intended pictures of dark or dimly lit scenes due to blurring or the loss of background details and atmosphere when the flash is used. In response to this complaint, Nikon is working to achieve even greater improvements in image quality and power of expression with shooting in dark or dimly lit situations.
Review
1. Nikon Coolpix S8100 Hands-on Review by Digitalcamera-hq.com
Camera buyers want it all: Compact shooters with long zooms and great low-light performance for under $300. Because of a few principles called supply, demand, and physics, that’s a tough one to pull off.
But that hasn’t stopped enterprising camera manufacturers from trying. Sporting a 10x optical zoom, backlit CMOS sensor, and a price tag around $250, the Nikon Coolpix S8100 almost makes it happen. The results aren’t perfect, but it’s a pretty good compromise for the price.
2. Nikon launches Coolpix S8100 with back-lit CMOS sensor by Dpreview
Nikon Inc. today announced the COOLPIX S8100, which offers a 12.1-megapixel backside illumination CMOS sensor to provide consumers with enhanced performance and outstanding image quality for high-speed shooting and low-light conditions. Fast, responsive and versatile, the Nikon COOLPIX S8100 with an incredible 10X zoom will capture fast-moving subjects in still images and HD (1080p) movies.
3. Nikon Coolpix S8100 (black) by Cnet
The Coolpix S8100 compact megazoom is Nikon’s follow-up to the Coolpix S8000. That camera didn’t offer much more than what you could get from other manufacturers–if anything–and produced average photos and had average shooting performance. Its design was really the only thing that made it above average. Nikon quickly moved forward with the S8100, keeping the prior model’s design for the most part, but adding a high-speed backside-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor.
