1. Build an RSS 2.0 Feed with CodeIgniter

In this tutorial, we will build a RSS 2.0 Feed with the PHP framework CodeIgniter. After this tutorial, you will be able to build a feed for any custom website in no time at all.

2. Building an RSS Feed in Code Igniter

Actually, it was pretty straight forward, but I thought I’d take a few moments to outline step by step how I did it. Most of the inspiration (and a lot of blatant stealing) is taken from this post about RSS on the CodeIgniter forums. Please note, that this requires that you load the URL helper… which I autoload, but could just as easily be included in the contoller (thanks Attos). I start out by creating a controller named “feed”.

3. RSSParser at CI Wiki

I have created this page to document the RSSParser library I have put together. I wanted to add RSS items and couldn’t find anything to achieve this and so have put this together for anyone else that would like it.

Because the class is loading an externally hosted file performance van very wildly so I have added some simple caching into the class. The class is only on its first revision so there may well be bugs within it, if you find any please let me know and I will be happy to look into them.

4. Generate RSS 2.0 Feeds with CodeIgniter

I made rss named controller, so I would access my feeds at address that looks like: “example.com/rss”. If you want to know more about RSS 2.0 then you should read RSS 2.0 Specification. In our controller we need to load two libraries: xml helper and database library for Active Record. Now we should have nice setup and lets get ready to fill our index function with code.

5. Parsing RSS in Codeigniter with Simplepie

Here’s how to parse an RSS feed using Simplepie in Codeigniter. First you need to download the codeigniter Simplepie library form here. Once downloaded unzip the file and extract Simplepie.php. Place that file in your library folder.

1. Session Class – CI User Guide

The Session class permits you maintain a user’s “state” and track their activity while they browse your site. The Session class stores session information for each user as serialized (and optionally encrypted) data in a cookie. It can also store the session data in a database table for added security, as this permits the session ID in the user’s cookie to be matched against the stored session ID. By default only the cookie is saved. If you choose to use the database option you’ll need to create the session table as indicated below.

2. Creating user session checking with CodeIgniter library

When we build web application with user authentification, the application must have user login/logout or signin/signout or whatever you called it, then the system must have user logged feature to check whether the user is logged in or logged out. Session is the most common way to checking it.

3. Enhanced CodeIgniter Session library

we quietly added some nice enhancements to the CodeIgniter Session library that I wanted to mention.

4. Accessing CodeIgniter Session Data using External Scripts

For a project we’re working on, we have the need to access CodeIgniter session data outside of our CI installation, more specifically for a WordPress installation. CodeIgniter, as most developers should already know, stores it’s session data in a database and uses a cookie to refer to the data, as opposed to storing this data inside of the PHP default $_SESSION superglobal.

5. CodeIgniter Session Checking

what/where is the best way to check for user sessions in CI? I dont want to put session checks in every controller. That is already code smell. Been thinking of a good solution for a while now and this is what I came up with.

The Idea is for all my controllers to inherit from a single parent controller. This way I can put the session check inside the parent controller then all other child classes will inherit this check.

—

If you know any article that explains even better then please share with us.

TinyMCE is a platform independent web based Javascript HTML WYSIWYG editor control released as Open Source. It has the ability to convert HTML textarea fields or other HTML elements to editor instances. TinyMCE is very easy to integrate, all WYSIWYGs are. When I was picking WYSIWYG for my website then I was between this and CKEditor. I loved the size and placement of source button of CKEditor, but other buttons look pixelerated and low quality images in examples. That because I picked TinyMCE, but lets get to work

2. FCKeditor

The following explains how to incorporate FCKeditor using Code Igniter’s 1.4x Libraries.

Place your FCKeditor files in your CI base directory (in this example I’ve put the files under a folder called plugins).

3. Xinha WYSIWYG editor

Xinha WYSIWYG editor is a very useful tool to edit and create html. T his very useful tool is your Image Manager. It is possible to upload, view, edit and delete all images on the folder server. Using it in Code Igniter is very easy, but it is necessary to edit some lines of the code of the original tool.

4. SPAW Editors With CI

SPAW is a very powerful and easy to use visual editor that I like to use in my applications.

I wanted to keep it flowing with the rest of my CI app by using the loader class to load it (instead of including it at strange places in my views), so I turned it into a custom library which can be loaded.

— If you know any other Editors for Codeigniter with Good tutorials, Do let us know and we will add in this list. – Matt

3. Digg Style Pagination – Non evasive aproach

I personally liked it very much and helped a lot, but i wanted a different approach that didn’t change the way the default CodeIgniter lib works, and I didn’t have to replace any CI core files which is a pain when updating CI. Furthermore i optimized the code a bit.

4. Pagination with Code Igniter

There are times when you may have to either split an article or a set of results lets say from a database query to span multiple pages. In times like those you will need to write some sort of pagination script. This can be a little overwhelming for developers who have never done something like that before, but with Code Igniter its a cinch to do.

5. How to Create Ajax Pagination using CodeIgniter? – CodeIgniter Tutorial

CodeIgniter has many built-in classes and plugins. Pagination class of CodeIgniter is very easy and simple to use. Also Ajax Pagination library is availanle in Codeigniter. Here i will describe how to create simple ajax pagination in Codeigniter using some simple steps.

The first few videos will show how to create basic pagination of a table of data and then the rest of the series will concentrate on how to implement standalone paginated tables using JQuery and AJAX.

7. Easy pagination and sorting : codeigniter

Pagination is a piece of cake in codeigniter but adding sorting columns is one heck of a task. This is how i did it

8. CodeIgniter and jQuery – Real Live Search with Pagination

In this tutorial, we will create a search page with CodeIgniter and jQuery. We’re not gonna create only a default search page using CodeIgniter framework, but also a real time search with jQuery’s support. And one more, enable GET method in CodeIginter that was stupidly disable by default. Enjoy the tut and don’t forget the … beer!

CodeIgniter is an open source PHP web application framework with a lot of features. Recently, thanks to the latest update, a new feature was added to this framework, called the Cart Class. In this tutorial, we’re going to take advantage of this new class, and write a shopping cart system, with a touch of jQuery added in.

2. Building a Shopping Cart using CodeIgniter’s Shopping Cart Class

Late last year CodeIgniter v1.7.2 was released with a lot of improvements and bug fixes. This version is now compatible with PHP5.3.0, they added
is_php()
to Common functions to facilitate PHP version comparisons, modified
show_error()
to allow sending of HTTP server response codes, and all internal uses now send proper status codes, Form helper improved and a new class which we are about to cover in this tutorial the Shopping Cart Class.

3. Codeigniter shopping cart v1.1

Updates are:

Backend moved to BeP(BackendPro)

Added Event calendar in BeP

Added Ajax Todo list system in BeP

Admin is controlled in Bep members

Added Menus module

Added Customer module

Added Order module

Creating a folder when you create a new category

jquery dataTables is added to the back-end table

jquery accordion is added to the back-end

Image/thumbnails upload bug fixed

Updated category reassign

Changed from Captcha to reCaptcha

Added email ordering option

And more

4. Building a simple PHP shopping cart

One of the most common requirements any web designer/developer will come across is likely to be that of the small business taking its first steps online; a client with an established widget-selling company now wants to move into the national market and sell their widgets to the world.

What they need to do this (apart from a great-looking, functional, usable and accessible website!) is some sort of shopping-cart system to allow their customers to add, remove and update the products they wish to buy.

This article will walk through the simple steps to achieve this, using the server-side language PHP and a MySQL database.

5. CodeIgniter Shopping Cart Library

The shopping cart library has now been released as part of the Code Igniter stable release version 1.7.2.

The code in the controller offers simple functionality:

View products

View shopping cart

Update shopping cart quantities

Delete products from shopping cart

CodeIgniter is a powerful PHP framework with a very small footprint, built for PHP coders who need a simple and elegant toolkit to create full-featured web applications. If you’re a developer who lives in the real world of shared hosting accounts and clients with deadlines, and if you’re tired of ponderously large and thoroughly undocumented frameworks

1. CodeIgniter from Scratch: Shopping Cart

Today, we are going to take a look at the Shopping Cart library for CodeIgniter. This useful class allows us to add and remove items to a shopping cart, update them, and calculate prices. I will demonstrate how you can build a simple shopping cart system with the help of this library..

2. Building a Content Management System with Code Igniter

Welcome to the conclusion of a nine-part series focused on showing you how to build applications with the Code Igniter framework. Designed to allow programmers to create applications rapidly by utilizing the Model-View-Controller pattern, the Code Igniter framework lets you add many capabilities quickly and easily. This article will bring everything we’ve learned together for the creation of a content management system.

3. Building a cms in CodeIgniter

Codeigniter is a simple, easy to work and very fast php MVC framework. It is well documented and has well commented commented code. The best thing I like personally Codeigniter is its support for HMVC (Hierarchical Model View Controller). It has HMVC extension which you can download from codeigniter website.

In modular Codeigniter we can use modules which are placed in the modules folder. Each module has its folder in modules folder and has controllers, views, models folders which contains its respective files. I will use the following folder hierarichy.

4. CodeIgniter Clan Site

In this series of tutorials we’ll be creating a multi-gaming clan website with support for many different games, forums and a full admin system. We’re going to get started today on a project that’ll teach you all of the practical details of CodeIgniter. By creating the different parts of the site, you’ll learn how to (amongst other things):

Work with databases, with a little help from Doctrine.

Work with CodeIgniter sessions.

Work with language files.

5. Creating a Portofolio CMS with Codeigniter

We are starting a new series of Codeigniter application tutorial. We are going to create a Portfolio CMS by using this free website template from Nettus. The template has index, about, portfolio, services and contact page.

This template has nice jquery effects for showing large images in the index and individual product page.
Portfolio page shows all the categories and their product thumbnails. This page leads to a individual product page.

We are going to show you how to convert this html to a Codeigniter powered CMS. We will try to modify BeP code as little as possible. We can achieve this by adding new files rather than adding codes to Bep files. However there are times when we add codes to BeP because it save more time and codes.
