A web hosting service is a kind of internet hosting service that permit single and organization to offer their own sites via the www (World Wide Web). Free web hosting service is free of cost, sometimes marketing supported webhosting, and is often limited when matched to pay hosting service. Web hosting packages often include web CMS (Content Management System), so the final-user does not have to worry about the more technological aspects.

Basic Web Hosting Explanation

The most basic form of web hosting is web pages and little scale files web hosting, where documents can be simply uploaded by file transfer protocol (FTP) or web server. The documents are usually transferred to the website “as is” or with pretty working such as ASP, PHP, and JAVA format. The person does not own the web server. The host may also offer an interface control panel, Hosting controller, C panel, Plesk, hosting services or other for managing and maintaining the web server and download script as other service like E-mail service.

Basic Technical Explanation

Many offers state that they purpose for a100% guarantee of server uptime. Many offers tie uptime and convenience, into their own hosting service level agreement.

In Hosting Managed service: The people gets she or her own web server but is not permitted full control over it access for (Administrator/Linux access for window); anyway, they are permitted to manage the data Via FTP document or other remote management applications. A difficult configuration for web server is the LAMP part; PHP/Python/Perl, MySQL, and Apache.

Most hosing holders proved Linux and window based web hosting which provides a wide range of several software.

Dedicated & Colocation Hosting

Another kind of dedicated hosting is unmanaged or self managed. DNS web hosts can propose data center space and attachment to the internet server they do not owned, to be placed in their data center, known as Colocation.

Internet web hosting services can run web servers. Colocation hosting service is same as dedicated web hosting service, but the people owns the dedicated server; the web hosting provider offers physical area that the takes care of the internet server.

Hosting Reseller

This is most strong and expensive kind of the web hosting service. Anyway, one must be fully careful when finding for a latest company, due to the fact and figures of the users marketing service offers are truly affiliates and the reviews are prejudiced. This is truly very expensive for dedicated plans.

A shared site may be easily hosted with the reseller web host service. This account allow user to become web hosts themselves. To search a web hosting business, there are easily searchable ways that can be utilized. This kind of web hosting is use by big companies to outsource new network infrastructure to a web hosting business.

The trust of data transfer through sites is very important in order to offer the maximum support for company activities. A business hosting panel can assist organization to offer a simple and easy visibility to the users who are finding hosting service.

We have created a list of free open source Q&A scripts and Stackoverflow clones. Initially we had 9 items on the list but since our readers and community liked the subject they shared many other great scripts for questions & answers sites. So we are growing this list as the time goes by. Hopefully here you’ll find script or clone you have been looking for. And if we missed some great script, let us know.

1. OSQA – The Open Source Q&A System

At its very core, OSQA is a social question and answer system. However, OSQA’s roadmap includes features and functions that extend its usefulness beyond just a Q&A site. Those features include:

A question and answer engine that’s dead simple to use, has wiki-like features and a voting system

A social networking engine that allows you to connect with and follow other people and topics and send private messages to each other

A reputation system that lets you give and receive props for positive contributions to the community

A powerful search function that helps you find relevant information quickly and easily

The ability to create groups to help narrow content focus

The ability to export site data

The ability to easily federate content that’s created on your site (federating content = reusing content generated on one of your sites in another)

2. OpenOverflow is an open source Question and Answer application

OpenOverflow works on Mac OS X and GNU Linux, with Rails 2.3.2. OpenOverflow is an open source Question and Answer application that is inspired by stackoverflow.com.

3. phpancake

A questions and answers system, where the validity of the questions and their answers is determined and moderated by the community by a voting system. This open source system is on the lines of Stackoverflow and digg.

4. Question2Answer

Five minutes (or less!) to install.

Easy styling with CSS themes.

Simple to translate into any language.

Fast integrated search engine.

Points-based reputation management.

Categories and/or tags (with auto complete).

Email notifications and RSS support.

Voting, comments and follow-on questions.

PHP/MySQL scalable to millions of posts.

Built-in user account management.

Supports Facebook single sign-on, or…

Custom single sign-on for existing sites.

5. Qwench – PHP StackOverflow Clone

Qwench is a PHP/mySQL based StackOverflow clone.

Features
1. Allow users to post questions and answers
2. Points system similar to StackOverflow
3. Ability to post an article as a knowledge-base (for corporates)
4. Ability to lock site to registered users only
5. Clean CSS layout
6. Works in all major browsers

6. soclone – A Django-based Stack Overflow clone

SOClone will make use of Progressive Enhancement to ensure that all core functionality is available regardless of whether or not the user has JavaScript enabled – some of Stack Overflow’s core functionality such as voting, accepting answers, viewing comments, marking questions as favourites and flagging questions as offensive currently doesn’t work at all without JavaScript enabled.

Another usability issue which will be fixed is that the lack of submit buttons on some search pages means they can’t be used in browsers whose input method does not support typing events, such as Opera on the Nintendo Wii.

Over and above the basic Stack Overflow functionality, SOClone will (eventually) also include an intranet mode, which will tweak the application to be more suitable for use in intranets, with changes such as:

LDAP authentication / other pluggable registration/login backends

Lowering reputation barriers to access functionality or totally removing reputation from the equation in terms of what you’re allowed to do on the site

Removing offensive flags

Optionally disabling down voting

Intranet-specific badges

7. stacked – An Open Source implementation of StackOverflow

An Open Source implementation of a similar system to http://StackOverflow.com – basically an advanced questions/answers management system for support, forums, FAQs and similar systems.

sample installation – we’re using it as our primary support mechanism for Ra-Ajax (a GPL licensed Ajax Library for ASP.NET)

8. shapado

stackoverflow-like app written in ruby, mongomapper and mongodb

9. Askbot

This is Askbot project – open source Q&A system, like StackOverflow, Yahoo Answers and some others

Demo site is http://askbot.org

All documentation is in the directory askbot/doc

askbot-devel repository is open to anyone who wants to help develop Askbot – just drop us a note

Askbot is based on code of CNPROG, originally created by Mike Chen and Sailing Cai and some code written for OSQA

10. Lampcms Open Source Q&A program

Lampcms is an full-featured Open Source Question and Answers web program with support for social web with the integration with Facebook and Twitter. Question/Answer websites are becoming very popular, many people find them to be a better choice for building online communities than a traditional web forum.

Just like many other Question and Answer sites, Lampcms is tag-based, meaning there is no need to create separate forum for separate topics, all questions are tagged by the author and can then be grouped by tag.

11. Qamini

Qamini stand for “Question & Answer Mini”.
Its very lightweight and includes following features:

Registration, User pages

Ask Question (With / Without Registration)

Add Answers (With / Without Registration)

Add Comments

Vote up / down questions or answers

Accept answers

Get reputation points

Tags

12. Coordino

Self hosted knowledge management software which looks and feels much like Stackoverflow. Hosted on GitHub its both opensource and has good community support.

13. Askeet

This open source project is the result of 24 days tutorial created for symfony PHP framework. It goes through all steps of developing and releasing Web 2.0 project. Of course you can get code for Askeet and implement it on your site without waiting 24 days.

CodeIgniter is a powerful PHP framework with a very small footprint, built for PHP coders who need a simple and elegant toolkit to create full-featured web applications. If you’re a developer who lives in the real world of shared hosting accounts and clients with deadlines, and if you’re tired of ponderously large and thoroughly undocumented frameworks

1. CodeIgniter from Scratch: Shopping Cart

Today, we are going to take a look at the Shopping Cart library for CodeIgniter. This useful class allows us to add and remove items to a shopping cart, update them, and calculate prices. I will demonstrate how you can build a simple shopping cart system with the help of this library..

2. Building a Content Management System with Code Igniter

Welcome to the conclusion of a nine-part series focused on showing you how to build applications with the Code Igniter framework. Designed to allow programmers to create applications rapidly by utilizing the Model-View-Controller pattern, the Code Igniter framework lets you add many capabilities quickly and easily. This article will bring everything we’ve learned together for the creation of a content management system.

3. Building a cms in CodeIgniter

Codeigniter is a simple, easy to work and very fast php MVC framework. It is well documented and has well commented commented code. The best thing I like personally Codeigniter is its support for HMVC (Hierarchical Model View Controller). It has HMVC extension which you can download from codeigniter website.

In modular Codeigniter we can use modules which are placed in the modules folder. Each module has its folder in modules folder and has controllers, views, models folders which contains its respective files. I will use the following folder hierarichy.

4. CodeIgniter Clan Site

In this series of tutorials we’ll be creating a multi-gaming clan website with support for many different games, forums and a full admin system. We’re going to get started today on a project that’ll teach you all of the practical details of CodeIgniter. By creating the different parts of the site, you’ll learn how to (amongst other things):

Work with databases, with a little help from Doctrine.

Work with CodeIgniter sessions.

Work with language files.

5. Creating a Portofolio CMS with Codeigniter

We are starting a new series of Codeigniter application tutorial. We are going to create a Portfolio CMS by using this free website template from Nettus. The template has index, about, portfolio, services and contact page.

This template has nice jquery effects for showing large images in the index and individual product page.
Portfolio page shows all the categories and their product thumbnails. This page leads to a individual product page.

We are going to show you how to convert this html to a Codeigniter powered CMS. We will try to modify BeP code as little as possible. We can achieve this by adding new files rather than adding codes to Bep files. However there are times when we add codes to BeP because it save more time and codes.

If you have any new Codeigniter tutorial links, Please share with us via comment section.
