Description

Travel the world with the new PowerShot SX230 HS digital camera. It’s the first Canon PowerShot to come with GPS technology that’ll automatically tag your photos with time and locations. You can even view all the photos’ locations on a map by using special bundled software. And with amazing features, such as the HS SYSTEM, 12.1 Megapixels, 14x Wide-Angle Optical Zoom and 1080p Full HD Video, the stylish PowerShot SX230 HS is your essential traveling companion!

Reviews

1. Canon PowerShot SX230 HS (black) by Cnet

The PowerShot SX230 HS is Canon’s top compact megazoom featuring a 28mm-equivalent wide-angle lens with a 14x zoom. It’s the same lens used in 2010’s SX210 IS and the body is for the most the same, too. The major change is to the camera’s imaging sensor; the SX210 had a 14-megapixel CCD while SX230 has a 12-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS. Without getting into the technical differences, what you need to know is that the new sensor produces better low-light photos and has faster shooting performance than that of its predecessor. Canon also built in a GPS receiver for geotagging your photos while you’re shooting–a first for a PowerShot.

2. Canon PowerShot SX230 HS First Impressions Review by DigitalCameraInfo

The SX230 HS is Canon’s highest-end new PowerShot camera for 2011. The camera is not quite as compact, nor as cheap, as the new Canon ELPH models (the 500 HS, 300 HS, and 100 HS), but it does manage to stuff a ton of features into its small frame. We got a chance to take a good look at the PowerShot SX230 HS at the CP+ convention in Yokohama, Japan, and we’re excited to bring this little powerhouse into our labs later this year for a full-length review.

3. Canon PowerShot SX230 HS Review by InfoSyncWorld

Canon has been hard at work enhancing the wildly popular PowerShot SX210 IS. Meet the company’s first ever GPS-enabled camera, the Canon PowerShot SX230 HS. HS you say? That’s right, Canon stuffed one of their signature HS (High Sensitivity) CMOS sensors in the new SX230 HS for improved low light performance. The company also equipped the SX230 HS with the ability to record 1080p HD video, boosted the LCD pixel count, added a few image effects, and jacked the price up by 50 bucks. We requested many of the these alterations in our SX210 IS review, and Canon delivered. Is the Canon PowerShot SX230 HS worth the boost in Hamiltons? Read our full review to find out.

THE ULTRA-STYLISH ULTRA-ZOOM.
With its 15x wide-angle zoom and one-touch HD movie recording feature, the SP-600UZ is one seriously sophisticated camera. But don’t let its big capabilities fool you. The SP-600UZ is truly compact, making it the perfect travel companion for weekend getaways, and everyday snapshots.

15X WIDE-ANGLE ZOOM (F3.5–F5.4, 28–420MM EQUIVALENT).
This 15x zoom lets you get incredibly close to your subject while the 28mm wide-angle lens lets you zoom back out for panoramas and group shots.

Reviews

1. Olympus SP-600UZ Review by PhotographyBay.com

The Olympus SP-600UZ fits in a class of budget-friendly superzoom cameras with the likes of the Nikon L110 and Fuji S1800. All of these cameras run in the neighborhood of $200 to $250 and offer similar zoom ranges. As a result, I will reference the Nikon and Fuji cameras when comparing features with the SP-600UZ.

2. Olympus SP-600UZ by Cnet

As with many things in life, expectations play a big part in whether you’ll like the Olympus SP-600UZ. The two main attractions are its wide-angle lens with 15x zoom and its price; it can easily be found for less than $200. The rest of its features, which include one-press recording of 720p HD movies, 1GB of internal memory, and AA batteries, are good for the money, too. Based on looks, specs, and features, the SP-600UZ is a good deal.

3. Olympus SP-600 UZ Hands-On Review by DigitalCamera-hq.com

The Olympus UZ series has been around for 10 years now and is one of the oldest lines in the digital business. With enormous zoom ratios the name of the game, the UZ series has traditionally traded image quality for big numbers. Read on to find out why the newest budget model, the SP-600, does little to shake this convention. By Chris Weigl

Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the release of the COOLPIX S8100, a stylish 10X zoom model with improved image quality in photos taken in dark surroundings and excellent performance with nighttime and dimly lit indoor shooting that often results in blurred photos.

According to the latest Nikon survey of compact digital camera users, the most common complaint is the inability to take the intended pictures of dark or dimly lit scenes due to blurring or the loss of background details and atmosphere when the flash is used. In response to this complaint, Nikon is working to achieve even greater improvements in image quality and power of expression with shooting in dark or dimly lit situations.

Review

1. Nikon Coolpix S8100 Hands-on Review by Digitalcamera-hq.com

Camera buyers want it all: Compact shooters with long zooms and great low-light performance for under $300. Because of a few principles called supply, demand, and physics, that’s a tough one to pull off.

But that hasn’t stopped enterprising camera manufacturers from trying. Sporting a 10x optical zoom, backlit CMOS sensor, and a price tag around $250, the Nikon Coolpix S8100 almost makes it happen. The results aren’t perfect, but it’s a pretty good compromise for the price.

2. Nikon launches Coolpix S8100 with back-lit CMOS sensor by Dpreview

Nikon Inc. today announced the COOLPIX S8100, which offers a 12.1-megapixel backside illumination CMOS sensor to provide consumers with enhanced performance and outstanding image quality for high-speed shooting and low-light conditions. Fast, responsive and versatile, the Nikon COOLPIX S8100 with an incredible 10X zoom will capture fast-moving subjects in still images and HD (1080p) movies.

3. Nikon Coolpix S8100 (black) by Cnet

The Coolpix S8100 compact megazoom is Nikon’s follow-up to the Coolpix S8000. That camera didn’t offer much more than what you could get from other manufacturers–if anything–and produced average photos and had average shooting performance. Its design was really the only thing that made it above average. Nikon quickly moved forward with the S8100, keeping the prior model’s design for the most part, but adding a high-speed backside-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor.

Review

1. Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T99 Review by Expertreviews.co.uk

Sony knows how to make a good looking camera. As with all of its T-series models, the T99’s lens sits behind a sliding panel that doubles as a power switch. For reasons we can’t quite explain, this design is immensely satisfying. The back of the camera is filled by a 3in touchscreen, and the overall effect is one of sleek, understated sophistication. The downside is that there’s not much to hold onto. We found that fingers sometimes crept in front of the lens as we did our best to grip its curved shell.

2. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 Review by Photographyblog.com

Unlike Sony’s Cyber-shot WX5 with its conventional boxy shape and protruding zoom lens, the flat-fronted brushed metal 14.1 effective megapixel, 4x optical zoom T99 is a slim-line snapshot contender of the slide open and shoot lens cover variety. This means its internally stacked optics are hidden from view when the camera is inactive, and at no point extend proud of the faceplate surface when in use.

3. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 (Purple) by Cnet

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 is basically the sexier ultracompact version of the company’s W350. It has many of the same features as that model, but switches from a telescoping external lens to an internal lens and adds a 3-inch touch screen. Unfortunately, the design and display raise the cost, but don’t do anything to improve photo quality or shooting performance. That’s not to say that the photos are bad, though, and if you want a touch-screen camera and can’t afford a more expensive model, the T99 is a decent camera.
